Vegetable and Herb Gardening Tips
Wise Words & Favorite Gardening Books
One of my very favorite gardening books, The New Victory Garden by Bob Thomson, contains wise words and tons of photos and drawings on simple vegetable and herb gardening tips.
Long ago, Mr. Thomson hosted Boston-based WGBH’s “The Victory Garden.” It was distributed by PBS from 1979 to 1991 and is one of the oldest gardening programs. I loved the show and I still treasure the book. He felt it was especially important to introduce young people to gardening, and I couldn’t agree more.
One of the simplest ways to start gardening is with a vegetable or herb garden. Hey, you can even start a container or kitchen window herb garden! Some people are surprised, but the easiest things to start with are things like green beans, peas, cucumbers, radishes, beets and carrots. When you see your first seed germinate, you’re so proud. Then more success flows and next thing you know, you’re talking to plants!
Below, find blogs to help with growing a beautiful life and starting a vegetable or herb garden.
